Hi! I'm Lia, an artist and graphic designer specializing in nature illustration.
Listening deeply to the plants, birds, bugs, and critters all around me is a practice that nurtures me creatively, intellectually, and emotionally. Over the years, taking the time to appreciate nonhuman life has become about much more than filling a sketchbook; it’s a way of coming home.
I believe that art and stories have the power to change the world. Which is why I earned a BA in Literary Journalism from the University of California, Irvine and a Master's of Science in Environmental Studies with a focus on Environmental Writing from the University of Montana.
I have completed certificate courses in Natural History Illustration and Graphic Design, and have earned Master Naturalist certifications in both California and Montana. I've also completed multiple Botanical Illustration workshops, as well as a 2-day Nature Journaling workshop for educators led by John Muir Laws.
I offer visual identity packages for environmentally-focused organizations and custom illustrations for educational materials and merchandise. All of my work is created using 100% human intelligence.
I was a Printmaker in Residence at the Zootown Arts Community Center in Missoula, Montana in 2022 and a Pine Needles Artist in Resident in Marine on St. Croix, Minnesota in the summer of 2023.
If you're interested in working together or learning more about my design services, please use the contact form on my portfolio page to send me an email.
Thank you!
